Bald Eagles take a break from fishing on the Klawock River.
The mural in the Matt Turner Visitor Center was created by Adell Bruns (top left). She began with a pencil drawing in the fall of 2000. In the winter of 2001, Marty Sharp (top right) and Adell started painting on opposite sides of the mural and met in the corner about 180 hours later with a completed mural! The mural depicts the Klawock watershed system web of life and the salmon cycle. The seasonal cycle of the salmon involves the harmony and interaction with the watershed's flora and fauna. The Aurora Borealis and rain clouds are important meteorlogical features that are part of the Klawock area.
The silhouetted Bald Eagle on the ceiling and floor are the actual size of a full grown adult female.
Ducks on the river and the salmon cycle.
The aquarium features coho salmon raised at the hatchery. Also, unique albino coho salmon. See baby fry in the swede tanks, feed the fry, see the incubators & more.
