| Whether you love to fish or just want to support a good cause, here's a chance for you to win $7,500. That's right, just for buying a ticket you will be eligible for a $7,500 grand prize drawing. For those of you who enjoy the spirit of competition in addition to the $7,500 drawing; you will be angling for some great cash prizes. Here's the format. The 24th annual Craig/Klawock King Salmon Derby will start in May 2008 and ends August 31, 2008. There will be cash prizes over three periods for the largest king salmon. They are listed above. So here's how it works. The first period will start in May and ends 7:00 pm June 30. The second period will start July 1 and ends at 7:00 pm July 31. The third period will begin August 1 and end at 7:00 pm August 31. The three largest fish taken during each of these periods will be eligible for the above prizes. The grand prize drawing will be held in September.. By now you are asking yourself "Do I have to buy a new derby ticket each month?" The answer is NO. One derby ticket is good for the whole derby, but by purchasing more than one ticket you will increase your chances for the $7,500 drawing. The purchase of more than one ticket also shows your support for the POW Hatchery Association. There will be three weigh-in stations and they are: JT Brown's store, Petro Marine, and Black Bear store. Weigh-ins will only be done during regular business hours. Derby tickets can be purchased at these locations as well as various businesses and charter captains in the Craig Klawock area. Tickets can also be purchased at the POW Hatchery located at mile 9 Klawock-Hollis Highway, Klawock, AK. We hope you are as excited about the Salmon Derby as we are. Again, please know that by participating in the 24th annual Craig/Klawock King Salmon Derby you are supporting the Prince of Wales Hatchery and your fishing future.
